Monday Off!

Hi! As you can tell, I fortunately have this lovely Monday off! So excited about that 🙂 I hope all of you have off too.

This weekend, I decided on Friday I would get up and make it to a Body Pump class at the gym! I’ve missed Body Pump so much, I don’t know why I haven’t thought to go on a Saturday before. The class was awesome, I got a great lift in (although since it had been so long since the the last one, my weights weren’t as heavy). I missed group fitness so much! I totally realized this..I have been on so many solo runs, and workouts- it’s really starting to get BORING.

I woke up Sunday extremely sore, mostly from push-ups and bench pressing- not something I do often! Surprisingly enough even after the lunges and squats my legs weren’t hurting TOO badly. I did decided to take the day off Sunday, and am trying for my 6 mile long run today instead. The weather is about to get rediculously cold here this week (boo) so I may even have to suck it up and run on the treadmill this week. *sigh. Life is hard, I know.

Last week, my training didn’t go as planned, and I’m completely okay with it. It is what it is. Looking back, I totally think asking myself to run 4 times a week was a stretch. If I don’t get that 3rd shorter run in, I’ve decided its okay. I’ll be going totally off the feel of everything for the weeks. Sounds like a plan to me!

  • How was your weekend?

One of the best parts about my weekend???

Hockey’s back! And my Penguins are 2-0!

Last Song on the iPod:

Last Workout:

It was supposed to be a 4 mile run last night butttt I decided against it. I was tired, my body was tired and in favor of a crazy circuit workout this morning at 6am, I said heck with it and decided to not run. I’ll be running Friday and Saturday instead!

Last Meal

Spaghetti and Meatballssss. I’ll never get sick of that for a meal, so glad there’s leftovers for lunch!

(Last) New Show I Love

images

Did I ever tell you how much I love Netflix? Well, I do. I have found so many awesome shows on there. My new one is Once Upon a Time, I’m loving it. It’s so clever, and lots of characters with crazy stories and twists. If you don’t know it’s about a town where all the characters are from Fairy Tales but living in modern times and they don’t KNOW they are a fairy tale character. It’s really interesting. Do watch 🙂

Last Snack

Lately I’ve been obsessed with Cinnamon Toast. I love it so much. I really have to stop myself from eating like 5 slices at a time. Life is hard.

My sweeties snuggled up in my bed. They don’t like to share with me. Rude.

Turkey Day fun

Hello everyone! I am sorry for the absence (ha, if any of you have TRULY been missing me then good- missed you too 😉 ) but I was really, really enjoying my mini vacay and the time away from the computer and social media was a nice break. Very refreshing 🙂

I hope everyone had an amazing Turkey Day! I know I did, it was a good time with my family and I got to see Drew too which is aways a positive side of holidays with both of our jobs being at schools= nice breaks! (Fun fact: I even had yesterday off because in Pennsylvania, it was the first day of rifle season for hunting deer….haha yes. seriously.)

So anyways my Thanksgiving day started out with an extremely cold Turkey Trot 5k starting at my old elementary school! It was a brutal 27 degrees when we were headed there. My dad also went to the race with me.

Here we are racing 😉 (no sorry this was staged on my street- but still a fun picture!) Thanks mom!

The race was a good one and ended up being a really beautiful day out, you know, after you were numb, ha. The race unfortunately had a slight hiccup for me with another stupid side stitch at around the 2nd mile. UGH. one of those stabbed in the side gotta walk type of side stitch. Of course. I haven’t had a side stitch in all of my runs but of course it happens now. TYPICAL. Oh well. I still finished 26:51 so not too bad or far off my last. But soooo over the side stitches.

After this I was ready for turkey and lots of it! I helped my mom make a sweet potato casserole and and we had our pies ready for after!

I made the apple and mom made pumpkin! The apple turned out pretty well if I do say so myself 🙂 with ice cream of course!

Over the weekend I got to spend some quality time with Drew and took advantage of online shopping from the comfort of home. Perfect. No going out on Black Friday for this girl!

By Friday though, I was feeling some aches and pains in my knee and feet (as I so called “obnoxiously” pointed out to Drew…I mean I can’t help he’s an athletic trainer and is supposed to heal me, RIGHT!?) So I took the entire 2 days of no exercies besides walking around a little. It was the best decision I made for sure because yesterday I felt good and I had a nice run and tabata workout with squats, burpees, and sit ups and felt great! I’m definitely trying to take it easy right now and slowly build up my runs to get a nice base and lately I’ve been happy not going much over 3 miles, and doing some strength circuits in my basement.  I’m already starting to see improvement with my times in running so I’m pretty excited and trying to not overdo it! 🙂 woo!

  • How was your Thanksgiving Day?
  • Did you do Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping? I did and got some good deals admittedly for myself but some presents too 🙂

Hurricane Day 2

I can say that no damage has been done here at my home, and I’m am safe and well. I am very thankful to be able to say that because I know many can’t. Drew actually is very close to the coast of Ocean City, MD and thankfully he is okay too…not that I didn’t worry about him much of the day after seeing pictures of the coast! The eye of the storm was over my town last night and the wind and rain kept me up some but you can tell everything has died down a lot by now. We are now dealing with rainy/wintry mixes and the temperatures have dropped by 10-12 degrees. From what they are saying things should be moving out later today and into tomorrow. That being said I wish all the best to those affected on the coast. Scary and crazy!

Todays weather map

Anyways- yesterday I literally did nothing but bake, eat, read blogs/reasearch (aka google) cycling and running training, foam roll, and online shop (meaning I put a lot of things in my Shopping cart and I never check out as it begs me too…cruel.)

My body was begging me for a full rest day because I was hurting from the trainer and 3 hours of field hockey the day before. My back was incredibly tight and my glutes and hamstrings didn’t want to do anything. I’m so glad I did because today I feel 100% better and am ready to get a good (indoor) workout in. I’m hoping to do some riding on the trainer.

Speaking of riding a bike… yesterday I downloaded some race pics from this fall of Drew and I! There were many but I tried to pick out the ones where I looked least in pain…(this was the dreaded side stitch race..bleh).

So enjoy!

Stud!! (he also looks so official in his team Tri Kit!)

Gotta love Race Pics! 🙂

  • Do you get/like your race pictures? ( I always feel like theres very few good ones)
  • How are you after Sandy today?

Hurricane day!

Well everyone I hope you all had a good weekend. My weekend got extended a little bit and because of Hurrican Sandy I will be at home today and most likely tomorrow considering things are supposed to get worse tonight and into Tuesday. At one point a town 30 minutes from me was supposed to get a direct hit and was even a trending topic on Twitter. Twitter makes everything serious. YIKES!

20121029-080215.jpg

I’m at that little green dot…And that’s what we are dealing with this morning. The wind should be picking up by tonight…

So anyways, this weekend- I was supposed to run a 5k. It was nice because it was set up right in my town and easy to get to so I went and…..Cancelled. So great to get that notice before hand…but ohhhh well. I was excited to race so it was disappointing but what can you do? With all this I ended up losing motivation to run and decided to get on the trainer and watch Netflix instead- good choice I might say. (Side note: if you have Netflix start watching all the seasons of the TV show Rules of Engagement– it’s hilarious!)

Then I decided shopping was a good idea ..and then an even better idea was buying new shoes 🙂 PRETTY new shoes!

Brooks Pureflows! They had me at their color and then putting them on was even better. I feel like they are molded right to my foot! Can’t wait to take them for a spin. (OH, running guru, Alex– whatcha think!?) I definitely wish that the weather wouldn’t be so terrible because I would have loved to take them out for a nice run! (And no…not running in the rain… 🙂 )

Today is a much needed rest day– I spent 45 minutes on the indoor trainer Saturday and then an ab workout and played hockey for 3 hours Sunday (my team had NO subs either- ugh) and today my body hurts soooo very much. I may be popping in my Beach Babe DVD for the stretching session!

The rest of my hurricane day will be spent making pancakes…

20121029-075918.jpg

Literally the best I’ve ever made. Adapted from Hollie’s recipe… ( I only added a packet of stevia and some agave for my sweetner part). Oh and I added a bunch of cinnamon because I LOVE it. Cocoa would also be an awesome add-in.

Eating apple crisp…

And preparing for possible power outage! Yikes- candles ready!
