Preparing for the week

I don’t know about you- but I am so, so, so thankful for this extra day this weekend. I totally needed every ounce of this day to get ready for this upcoming week. Last week was just crazy learning my new routine and schedule and all of it without working at the gym because of shut down week for maintenance. Adding that into my week again means planning ahead has now become my best friend.

Have I mentioned before that I’m a go with the flow, laid back, as opposite of Type-A personality, person as you can get? Planning can sometimes be hard for me- but with how my schedule is I have to do it or I’ll probably lose my mind.

First for this month I made a schedule of all my work schedules (that I know of) and practice and game times for Field Hockey. It was seriously time consuming putting together 3 schedules BUT I can now put it all together and actually make sense of it. Sweet.

Organization people! Blue = school job, yellow = Field hockey Red = gym job

So, that was one step in making my weeks easier to follow along with…I’ll also have to make sure I schedule in my times for working out. I’ve decided that since at times I’ll be working at my gym at night I will just stay and do my workouts then. No sense in going in twice when gas prices are the way they are… (ugh).

One last huge thing to me that definitely has to be planned out is for FOOD!ย My most favorite thing…

Sunday has become a major food prep day. I got to the grocery store today and got a ton of fruit to bring…grapes have been super convenient!

I cooked chicken breasts for salads

And got lettuce, carrots and green peppers cut up… and then I bought a lot of peanut butter of course ๐Ÿ™‚ oh and hardboiled eggs are a plus!

I’ve been eating a lot at my lunch time because most of the time it has to hold me over until after practice is over. I’m not that upset about eating a ton ๐Ÿ™‚

These are thing things that help me get ready for the week…mostly so that I don’t feel like ripping my hair out because I didn’t get my lunch already packed and also so I try and stay on the healthy train and don’t make bad choices because they’re so much more convenient (cause they so are!). I mean, of course, I usually throw in a dark chocolate square because it’s necessary ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Do you plan ahead for your weeks or is go with the flow through the week?
  • Do you meal prep on the weekends?

The Start of Something New

Friday again! Wow, I feel like every time I turn around it’s Friday. Crazy how fast time goes…and now summer is over…

Why do I say that you ask?

CAUSE I’m going back to school! BUT not as a student! and not exactly as a teacher either….

I got a new job as a teacher’s aide in an elementary school! 8:15-3:15 M-F! YUP. I’ll be tying lots of little people’s shoes and wiping noses….drying tears. The experience I have had as Child Care Staff for the YMCA for a year is going to come in handy for sure.

Aide? No, not exactly what I want to be doing but it’s a start, and I’ll take it. I have training that starts Monday…and then I’m all set to start the school year on Tuesday! It will be here before I know it for sure. My job will mostly be working one on one with students on their homework..bus duty, lunch duty. I’m not sure of everything yet!

Needless to say I”m excited. I haven’t been liking my two part time jobs for a while..and while I’ll probably stay at them a couple times a week- it won’t be nearly as much. Thank god. Plus I’ll also be coaching my awesome team, which happens to be in the same school district near the school I’ll be at. Perfecto. ๐Ÿ™‚

What else does this mean you ask? I’m going to have to become a 5:45 am gym goer….yep. I’ll be sweating it out early… simply because of my job and coaching..if I don’t do it that early in the morning IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.ย

Days where my team just has practice would make my day from about 8-6 with travel time added in. (days with games especially away ones will be more like 8-8…boo) By the time I get home I will plop down on the couch and eat Dove chocolate..i just will, because I’m going to be drained at that point, and that means exercise won’t happen.

So basically in the coming weeks I’m going to turn into a caffeine guzzling, super energized morning person.

But I’m looking forward to it. (Kinda) There is a 6am spin class that I want to take at my gym and maybe this will give me that time to take it. During the week I won’t have much time to be on the bike (why I need a trainer…) so this might be a way I can get some miles on the legs.

This also means tons of food prep on Sundays and packing a lot of meals and snacks to get me through the days. A trip to Costco is definitely in order… I vow to try and make new and exciting meals because I cannot eat turkey sandwiches everyday of my life. Or a salad for that matter, I Like them..but i cannot do them every other day…If anyone has idea for meals to take with them…please send them along!

Here’s to new beginnings!

  • What’s new with you? Have a great weekend!

Last Things Thursday

Another installment of Last Things Thursday!

Last Workout done:

2.25 mile run (sorta miserably, I might add), a little Yoga from Jillian Michael’s video (didn’t do the whole thing cause I suck at staying focused. Namaste bitches.) , and a little 15 minute thing from Nike Training Club.

Last Snack:

Cookie dough FroYo mmhmm!

Last Song on the iPod:

Demi Lovato- give your heart a break. (Don’t judge me.)

Last picture on phone:

A picture of ME going out for a run in my NEW shoes…the ones that I won from Lora’s Blog! They are AWESOME! Saucony Triumph 9-ย I really like this neutral shoe. They’re a little lighter than ones I’ve been running in and I can tell a difference. They are an 8mm drop, less than I’m used to, so I’m hoping they don’t bother my feet, but so good!

Pretty snazzy, eh?

Last BIG purchase:

This is a present to myself…a Lululemon cycling outfit…well it was on sale…haha and Sale by lulu’s standards isn’t exactly the same BUT it is the most amazing cycling clothing I’ve ever had on in my life! Cycling clothing is pretty expensive to begin with and I wanted a good quality outfit now that I spend a longer time out on the bike. Before I’ve pretty much bought the cheapest shorts I can buy and then wear a tank top or shirt. Now I’m LEGIT!ย And look how dang cute these purple shorts are.

Last Book I read:

Matched by Ally Condie! A good read..pretty quick, but found it was pretty enjoyable. It’s got a kind of futuristic United States kinda thing like The Hunger Games. Good beach read.

Last Meal:

I made chicken with this brown rice and quinoa mix…first time having it and the stuff was delicious. If you can find it near you i suggest it. quite delicious.

  • What are some of your last things this Thursday?

Back again!

Hi everyone…I know I’ve said it before but I’m back! for serious this time.

The beach was absolutely awesome last week! I mean how could it not be right? It’s the beach. Relaxation, beach reading, good food, and biking! We had pretty good weather the entire time we were there…only one day of super hot stuff going on, not like my other time at the beach this summer (which of course was through the hottest 10 days in a row on record).

This was one of our nicest days there. Beautiful blue skies!

Well at the beach you KNOW I rode my bike a bunch ๐Ÿ™‚ On Monday Drew, his dad, and I set out for a bike ride in the afternoon that ended up being about 18 miles. It was the afternoon and a little too hot for us to go our real long and still make it to the beach for a little so we didn’t do too long of one. Unfortuantely the way we went this time required a lot of stopping through traffic lights through one town, which got kinda irritating but not too bad of a ride all together.

Tuesday we went out for a 27 mile ride! Which was really good. it’s always nice to go out and bike with others- coming home and biking by myself I realized how much harder it is to make myself stay out there.

Wednesday we went to a little farmers market in town which was really cute and fun and lots of neat homemade food and crafts. I LOVE food.

and especially this doughnut from The Fractured Prune- Cherry, Chocolate, Coconut ๐Ÿ™‚

So that morning we skipped the bike ride in order to do that, eat lunch, and spend some quality time at the beach!

After the beach this day ย went out and did something crazy- I RAN. Yes- that’s it. I just ran. No biking involved…I know, this is pretty much unheard of for me lately, but since I didn’t bike that day and haven’t just done a solo run in a while I figured I would try it out. Well- let’s just say that cycling and running- although both cardiovascular exercises….dont exactly translate. My legs were pretty tired from the day before I’ll admit but the whole 2 miles I kind of struggled through. I made a goal to get them in under 20 minutes which I did by 10 seconds but not a great run. Getting back into it is HARD and the next day my legs were KILLING me. Not fun. But it will only get better correct? Spending so much time on my bike has made my foot really happy! which is AWESOME, because I haven’t had any pain and running didn’t hurt! This is probably the first time in 2 years where my foot has felt good for a long period of time. That calls for celebration!

Later on that night Drew and I played mini golf…and I won ๐Ÿ˜‰

That was my last night there, so it was a great time and of course FroYo came after- although I ate it before a picture. oops ๐Ÿ˜‰

The next day even thought I was crazy sore I woke up and Drew and I did a decent 22 mile ride before heading to the beach for the rest of the day. After the beach I packed and had to come back home so I could get back to work, which I did all weekend and today. ย Rude.ย

So basically, summary: I love the beach and always wonder, why do I ever leave? Do any of you wonder that after a vacation?

And fitness wise what I learned this week: Taking time off from running totally kills when you start again. However, breathing wise I felt good because I think my cardio is good from biking, but getting the legs and arms into the “swing” of things is tough after time off. Boo.

But also: Cyclingย is awesome, and I love it. I feel like I’m getting better with every ride. Working to stay peddling the whole time is hard sometimes especially after a tough climb but there’s something about it that keeps me hooked ๐Ÿ™‚

  • So anyways- you guys, what’s up with you? Any new fitness accomplishments? or any in general?

Friday Things

I sincerely apologize to any of you who actually read my crap…I’ve been a terrible blogger for sure. This week has just been busy, and also I don’t have much to talk about…? Work is well- you know how work is pretty slow right now so… ANYWAYS. THANK YOU to anyone who actually keeps coming back to read this crapthing.

Friday Things..since all I have to talk about is random. Seriously.

1. These things are what I”m using to attempt to not have a scar the size of my entire leg…we will see how that goes. BioOil and Scar zone here I come..

I know it looks horrendous… ugh. Also the scar zone stuff has SPF in it..good thing since…

I know what you’re thinking..”seriously? again??” yes, again! This time with Drew’s family! yay! Only a few days so I can get back to work, but still- It will be a nice get away! I will be reenacting some of this!

3. I love pedicures and manicures.

They’re the best seriously. and Gel manicures last forever. These things are both highly necessary for the beach! You can’t tell but the base of my french manicure is super sparkly! woo

4. This is how I’m greeted when coming out of my room. Don’t you just want to DIE.

and then she wags her tail at me. swoon.

5. ย That’s really all for now…I’ve got a ton of things to do before I leave to meet Drew and his family tomorrow so… i’ll catch ya on the flip side!

  • What are you up to this weekend? Anything fun?
