Weekend Recap

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a busy one as usual. I swear I don’t know the word relax of just hang out lol. It just doesn’t happen… One day!

Friday was spent working and then getting my class reunion together. I forgot to take pictures of the reunion but one of my friends did… But haven’t seen then yet so I got nothing, sorry. It was okay. After it was over a lot of us went out to a local restaurant/bar and hung out some more.

I didn’t stay out long cause I had to get up super early to coach a scrimmage which we won! Yay! πŸ™‚ we have some work to do but we did fairly well for the first one! After that was done I rushed to work- boo. For the rest of the night.

However, Sunday was the real excitement!! I got up super early and me and my mom took a road trip to see Drew!!

Drew just moved last week 9 miles from the beach in Maryland. Yes. Seriously… Who lives like that?? But we went to visit since its been about 2 weeks since I’ve seen him (wah) and hung out for the day. His new place is adorable and is perfect for him. We just hung out for a while becore going to explore his new place of work which is also awesome! And then we went to Applebees and I got my favorite salad on earth!!

Oriental chicken salad to be exact! Soooo good!

We sent shopping at the little outlets that were there. I really mean little, but found some things!

We had fun around and then had to head home after that. It’s a good 3 and a half hour drive with out stopping so it wasn’t a lot of time there unfortunately. But first I tormented Drew with a picture.

He loves taking pictures! But anyways- we headed home and hit some traffic and then my mom couldn’t remember what exit to take so we ended up going to far west – like all of a sudden we saw sign “Welcome to Washington DC” oops. And so then we needed to turn around. Fun times.. Should have just stopped to see this girl.

But it was like 11 and I was tired and cranky from driving! Someday πŸ™‚

So there was my busy weekend! Back to a busy work schedule and coaching this week! Needless to say the exercise was just a lot of walking this weekend! My body did need a rest from all the living I did this week that it’s not used to.. Back at the live fit trainer this week!

what did you do this weekend?

Liebster Blog

Happy Saturday! I had a late night at work last night so I tried to “sleep-in” a bit… but Izzy had other plans. She just has to wake me up. So I decided to write instead. Luck you! πŸ˜‰

And I’ve been lucky enough to be given an award by a few bloggers, Alex,Β Amalia, and Colleen. I almost feel like I won a gold medal from these awesome ladies! since there are so many and this is kinda fun I’m going to spread out my survey questions. Since Alex nominated me first- I’m going to do that one now! I hope you are ready to know all the things you never wondered about me. πŸ™‚ We’re about to get CLOSE.

1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2. Then answer the questions the tagger sent for them, plus create 11 questions for the people they’ve tagged to answer.
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
4. Notify the people you have tagged.
5. No tag backs.
Okay so here we go 11 random things:
1. At most times I will have my nails done/painted myself, and my toenails MUST be painted. Even in winter. It might be something to do with the fact that I have a permanent black toe nail from field hockey ew.
2. Things I eat/drink probably everyday or most: Coffee (duh), peanut butter, cheese, spinach salad, dark chocolate, salsa. Also eggs in some form: scrambled, dippy, or hardboiled in my salad.
3. As much as I say I want to move to a city (which I do) because there’s more to do and more available than my rinky dink area. I kinda love my little PA farm town I’ve lived all my life and would probably miss it. There’s no traffic, peaceful..and where else does this happen?
Getting stuck behind a tractor is a regular occurrence around these parts. Drew grew up in the suburbs of Philly and I think he literally thinks that where I live is a circus. it’s interesting..full of Camo, ridiculous pick-up trucks, and chickens.
4. I’m a Pittsburgh Sports fan through and through, and Pittsburgh is my favorite city.
5. Wedding Crasher’s quotes are used in my daily life. Seriously. Ask Drew.
“what an IDIOT!” “MA, the meatloaf! I never know what she’s doing…back there”
6. I’ve never run more than 5 miles at one time before. My furthest total has been 6.2 miles when I did a duathlon that included two 5ks. I’ve mostly just never had a reason to do that and I don’t LOVE running so much that I could just bang out a long ass run for no reason. Also my injury prone foot probably wouldn’t like it too much. I enjoy a good 3-4 mile run.
7. That being said..going long distance on a bike doesn’t bother me one bit. I haven’t done anything crazy long, but if Drew said- hey we are doing 50 miles today. i’d probably be fine with it. Β (gotta do what you love people)
8. I like to carry stevia packets in my purse for when I have coffee at work or if I stop for it.
9. I LOVE to cook but I barely am home to have time for it anymore. The months of january-march when I only had one job and was home more I got to cook a lot and create different little experiments.
10. I miss college life and my friends pretty bad. Living with 4 other girls was so much fun. not to mention I had a family with my field hockey team. I’ve been at home for like 8 months now and none of my friends live at home anymore so it’s boring for me. My best friend is 4 hours away from me 😦 and my other bestie from college moved to Florida. Wah 😦 and it doesn’t help that Drew is also 3 hours away either.
11. I live right by the Gettysburg Battlefield and honestly don’t know much about the war. I’m not a good history buff. That being said the area itself is really awesome and the town is fun to walk around. Not to mention it’s really haunted…kinda fun πŸ™‚

Alex’s Questions:

  1. What is a little smile for today? This morning I put cinnamon in my coffee. Genius. Why haven’t I done this before??
  2. What is your favorite, go to snack product? My go to lunch snacks at work are green peppers and carrots (with some ranch) and some greek yogurt, strawberries, and sliced almonds for a little “parfait”. oh and i pack a Dove Dark Chocolate piece.
  3. What is a family tradition you plan on carrying on for your family?Β This is probably weird but we don’t have many traditions in my family. Holidays are always changing because we have family all over the place so it’s constantly changing. Maybe that’s our tradition??
  4. What is the most recent blog you have discovered? The most recent is Colleen’s Chocolate Mile
  5. What is one food you could not live without? oh geez…probably chocolate..or coconut..or cheese…you see i can’t decide I love them all!
  6. What is your favorite fitness class? I love my HIIT classes! Body pump is a close favorite too.
  7. What is one piece of clothing or accessory you wear everyday? I MUST wear earrings. Kinda like my nail polish thing I seriously have to have my earrings in. I feel naked without them. Β I have 6 piercings in all and they must be filled. thank god you could wear jewelry in college sports.
  8. What relaxes you at the end of the day? usually reading blogs, or reading a book. I’m a book worm!
  9. What body part do you love about yourself? I love my arms and shoulders…they’re strong…thank you field hockey!
  10. What is a pet peeve of yours? I hate it when people don’t have manners. I wait tables and you’d be shocked at people who say “Gimme this” or just in general can’t say please and thank you. My parents woulda smacked me if I didn’t say those things. When I worked before and after school care at a YMCA nothing happened for those kids if they weren’t polite.
  11. Is there a word or phrase you use a lot? haha you’ve read my blog- probably a lot but I can’t pinpoint any to myself. maybe i don’t want to know!

Okay so I’m going to wait til I fill out everyone else’s questions to make my own and Tag others. So that’s the latest installment of:

“Learn everything you didn’t want to know about Katie.” πŸ™‚

  • What are your random facts?

Back again!

Hi everyone…I know I’ve said it before but I’m back! for serious this time.

The beach was absolutely awesome last week! I mean how could it not be right? It’s the beach. Relaxation, beach reading, good food, and biking! We had pretty good weather the entire time we were there…only one day of super hot stuff going on, not like my other time at the beach this summer (which of course was through the hottest 10 days in a row on record).

This was one of our nicest days there. Beautiful blue skies!

Well at the beach you KNOW I rode my bike a bunch πŸ™‚ On Monday Drew, his dad, and I set out for a bike ride in the afternoon that ended up being about 18 miles. It was the afternoon and a little too hot for us to go our real long and still make it to the beach for a little so we didn’t do too long of one. Unfortuantely the way we went this time required a lot of stopping through traffic lights through one town, which got kinda irritating but not too bad of a ride all together.

Tuesday we went out for a 27 mile ride! Which was really good. it’s always nice to go out and bike with others- coming home and biking by myself I realized how much harder it is to make myself stay out there.

Wednesday we went to a little farmers market in town which was really cute and fun and lots of neat homemade food and crafts. I LOVE food.

and especially this doughnut from The Fractured Prune- Cherry, Chocolate, Coconut πŸ™‚

So that morning we skipped the bike ride in order to do that, eat lunch, and spend some quality time at the beach!

After the beach this day Β went out and did something crazy- I RAN. Yes- that’s it. I just ran. No biking involved…I know, this is pretty much unheard of for me lately, but since I didn’t bike that day and haven’t just done a solo run in a while I figured I would try it out. Well- let’s just say that cycling and running- although both cardiovascular exercises….dont exactly translate. My legs were pretty tired from the day before I’ll admit but the whole 2 miles I kind of struggled through. I made a goal to get them in under 20 minutes which I did by 10 seconds but not a great run. Getting back into it is HARD and the next day my legs were KILLING me. Not fun. But it will only get better correct? Spending so much time on my bike has made my foot really happy! which is AWESOME, because I haven’t had any pain and running didn’t hurt! This is probably the first time in 2 years where my foot has felt good for a long period of time. That calls for celebration!

Later on that night Drew and I played mini golf…and I won πŸ˜‰

That was my last night there, so it was a great time and of course FroYo came after- although I ate it before a picture. oops πŸ˜‰

The next day even thought I was crazy sore I woke up and Drew and I did a decent 22 mile ride before heading to the beach for the rest of the day. After the beach I packed and had to come back home so I could get back to work, which I did all weekend and today. Β Rude.Β

So basically, summary: I love the beach and always wonder, why do I ever leave? Do any of you wonder that after a vacation?

And fitness wise what I learned this week: Taking time off from running totally kills when you start again. However, breathing wise I felt good because I think my cardio is good from biking, but getting the legs and arms into the “swing” of things is tough after time off. Boo.

But also: CyclingΒ is awesome, and I love it. I feel like I’m getting better with every ride. Working to stay peddling the whole time is hard sometimes especially after a tough climb but there’s something about it that keeps me hooked πŸ™‚

  • So anyways- you guys, what’s up with you? Any new fitness accomplishments? or any in general?

Friday Things

I sincerely apologize to any of you who actually read my crap…I’ve been a terrible blogger for sure. This week has just been busy, and also I don’t have much to talk about…? Work is well- you know how work is..it is pretty slow right now so… ANYWAYS. THANK YOU to anyone who actually keeps coming back to read this crapthing.

Friday Things..since all I have to talk about is random. Seriously.

1. These things are what I”m using to attempt to not have a scar the size of my entire leg…we will see how that goes. BioOil and Scar zone here I come..

I know it looks horrendous… ugh. Also the scar zone stuff has SPF in it..good thing since…

2. I”M GOING TO THE BEACH!

I know what you’re thinking..”seriously? again??” yes, again! This time with Drew’s family! yay! Only a few days so I can get back to work, but still- It will be a nice get away! I will be reenacting some of this!

3. I love pedicures and manicures.

They’re the best seriously. and Gel manicures last forever. These things are both highly necessary for the beach! You can’t tell but the base of my french manicure is super sparkly! woo

4. This is how I’m greeted when coming out of my room. Don’t you just want to DIE.

and then she wags her tail at me. swoon.

5. Β That’s really all for now…I’ve got a ton of things to do before I leave to meet Drew and his family tomorrow so… i’ll catch ya on the flip side!
