I love Fall

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a stellar weekend. I DID! Drew ended up having his work cancelled Saturday SOOO he got to come up to my house and spend the weekend with me! YAY πŸ™‚ reunited! We finally got to spend some quality time together..and I even had a buddy for a bike ride!

The temperatures this weekend surely made me welcome the new season!

Helloooooo Fall!!

As much as your have heard Β me ramble on about why I love summer, I actually wanted to to share with you why FALL is my actual favorite time of year.

Field hockey-Β Fall sport. You all know I love field hockey and my favorite sport is played in the fall. The fall always meant it would be a fresh new season! So happy to be playing in a fall league as well!

Football- staying with the sports theme. Football is in the fall! Nothing I love more on a Sunday is watching my Steelers play!

Izzy on her Steelers blanket..she loves them too!

Perfect Running/Biking weather-Β As much as I love hot weather (which I do), I do prefer exercising and not feeling like I’m going to suffocate outside. Having the cooler temps is quite pleasant- especially for a run or bike in the evening.

My Birthday is in the FallΒ (October 19th) to be exact…it’s coming up soooo- don’t forget πŸ˜‰ Kidding- but really as a kid I always looked forward to the fall because it’s my birthday season (yes…you read that right SEASON! I’m not narcissistic I swear….) Bonus: it’s also mine and Drew’s anniversary! The day after my birthday ha..good timing. (more presentsss??? one can hope.) πŸ˜‰

Candy Corn-

Might have ate this til I was sick to my stomach on Saturday. oops. oh and especially love the pumpkins and the chocolate covered ones.

Hot Coffee-Β I love hot coffee in the morning and it finally doesn’t make me sweat to death on the way to work! WIN!

Leaves changing-Β Watching the leaves begin to change to oranges and reds and yellows is my favorite. At this time of the year I miss being in the mountains (in college) because there they’re already changing!

  • Do you love fall as much as me? What is your favorite thing?

I’ll be back tomorrow to recap my weekend and talk about my upcoming duathlon on Saturday! Wait.. I didn’t tell you about it? Yah i’m RACING on Saturday. With no formal training this time. Should be interesting πŸ™‚

I’m back!

Well, I’m finally home from vacation! It was such an amazingly awesome time! I won’t get into many details yet cause I’ll be writing a full post for tomorrow, but let’s just say that it was just what I needed..a little R & R and time to not have a schedule or worries. I got to spend more than 2 days in a row with my family and Drew, too! Which is nice because we don’t see each other much these days. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen a few pics πŸ˜‰

One sneak peek for you! πŸ™‚

We spent most mornings on a awesome FLAT bike ride, which really helped me to build some mileage.. and then we came back to watch the Tour de France! πŸ™‚ (Actually what I am doing right now…love it!) I have watched before BUT this was before I had really considered myself a “cyclist” per say! πŸ˜‰ It really has a different meaning to me. My favorite athlete on there is Mark Cavendish from Great Britain. (I’ll let you figure out why………oh,Β HI DREW! πŸ˜‰ ) He’s the sprinter for team Sky. He’s been involved in some crashes and has been a little behind but hopefully he wins some more sprints.

It’s safe to say for me that I definitely got more of a tan from biking than I did from the beach…haha whoops! can’t say i’m upset about that. Can’t wait to update you tomorrow on my cycling progress i made last week! πŸ™‚ but as I said before, that will be all up tomorrow!

Mom also got a new bike so we are headed out to do a pretty good bike ride at home…will be interesting now that I’ll be back to hills!

Β Catch ya tomorrow! Enjoy your Sunday!

What has been going on in the Fitness world for you the last week? Any new accomplishments?

Visit on the Trail

Happy Wednesday!

I am getting pretty antsy for vacation time at this point! πŸ™‚ almost!

Nothing to report fitness wise sorta had another unplanned rest day. But for good reason! Yesterday after work I went to meet my friend and roommate from college, Sammie. Currently Sammie is en route to hiking the ENTIRE Appalachian Trail.

That’s Sammie by me in the green on our own hiking adventure in the pocono mountains in college.

Sammie has always been very outdoorsy and it was fun living with her and learning things from her about hiking and things! We lived in a good place to go hiking in college and it was one of our favorite weekend activities… Besides well ya know the normal college things πŸ˜‰

Sammie set out to do the trail in March and won’t be done til September!
Crazy ! Here I’ll show you what she will have completed come then:

Where the trail meets Maryland and PA and about 20 miles is above is where we met yesterday!

She limbo’d over the MD/PA border!

I’m so happy and even proud of her doing this! She has wanted to do it for so long and it almost didn’t even happen! They had many set backs (including the awful sounding Noro virus that got her and her hiking partner) before and on the way but she is still completing this. Her and her hiking partner hike just about 20 miles and day and even completed a marathon day of 26.2 miles. That is just awesome!

Now I like hiking But only for a little at a time! After about 3 days of this I’d be crying for a shower. No seriously. It sounded incredibly interesting and you new plenty of characters along the way!

Sammie and I yesterday:

She’s even hiking in a dress! She’s friggin’ awesome! Although, she said she has salt lines on it haha. I told her they were even more awesome. Honestly, this is how you set a goal and make it happen! Inspiring! πŸ™‚

How do you think you would like carrying all that you own on your back, sleeping in a tiny tent with 3 walls of shelter around you? Not sure I could do it but there are many people who do!

Also wanted to let you guys know about the Mezamiishi run project going on from Mizuno! click the link and then go to get invite! You could
win some FREE shoes. I don’t know about you but I can’t get enough shoes πŸ™‚

What Are your favorite running shoe brand? Are you afraid to try new kinds? not gonna lie I kind of am afraid to commit, but if they’re free shoes I might!

Why I love to Bike

Staying on the bicycling band wagon, I wanted to tell you some reasons why I love to ride a bike! (and How appropriate for National Running Day) I don’t know much about running…and I’ve found many, many, love for running posts- and so hey, I thought I would add my love affair with cycling. I do love to run, but there are so many reasons I found that I love cycling. So here we go:

Why I love to Bike!

1. The wind in my faceΒ – yes…flying down a hill with the wind in your face…amazing feeling.

2. Keeps these thunder thighs moving– yah it happens to the best of us. A love/hate relationship with our thighs…but when I look down and I see my legs powering me up a hill- I’m glad they are strong.

3. Enjoying the scenery – When I run, I don’t pay much attention to what is going on around me…probably because I’m struggling haha..but when I’m on a bike I feel more alert and in tune with my surroundings and I find it really peaceful.

4. The “jello” leg feeing after finishing a ride… never gets old.

5. Scheduling a bike ride into my day makes me 10x’s more productive then when I don’t. When I know I want to get out there for some solid miles I know I have to get other things done so I can do everything.

6. Pushing my milage– Drew will be the first to tell you I don’t necessarily do LONG bike rides..but I’m working on it. In the past few weeks I’ve gotten my best number of miles in ever. It’s hard and my legs get tired, but I’m so happy and proud when I’m finished!

7. No impact= happy feet! My feet are prone to hurting if I run too much or too many days in a row. Cycling is no impact and keeps them from cursing me.

8. Climbing up a tough hill and feeling proud that I carried myself to the top. My second duathlong ever which was the toughest..hilliest…worst course I’ve ever been on and I wanted to stop. I really did. It was painful, I was exhausted…but I completed it!

So that’s it. That’s why I love to ride my bike. I’m sure there are more reasons, but that’s what I could come up with.

I think biking is a forgotten form of exercise sometimes, and I encourage all of you to try it if if you can. Many communities (like mine) have rail trails all over the place. Or hey, try a duathlon! Great way to mix it up if you are an avid runner, and a great way to cross train!

Okay…almost off my Bike Soapbox but one last thought:

That it is my friends. That it is. πŸ™‚

Why do you have a love affair with the way you exercise? What keeps you doing it over and over? Whatever it may be, somehow it moves you to keep doing it, so tell me why!

The Best of Summer

So now that we are past Memorial Day..it’s pretty much the start of summer, am I right?? πŸ™‚ At least, I know I’m excited to get it started!

Here are a few of my Favorite Things about the Summer Time:

1. Hot Weather

I totally love hot weather!! I hate to be cold and walking outside without a jacket or long sleeves or something is a great feeling! I sweat all the time so I don’t even care about being gross! I really hate having to think about wearing layers and bringing things with me. I’m like to keep things as low maintenance as possible!

hot hot hot

2. Exercising Outside- All. The. Time.

If I didn’t live in Pennsylvania for the winter, I’m not sure I would be crazy about a gym membership. I have some equipment at home like dumbbells and kettle bells which I use for circuits I make up on my own and I love to do it in my garage. I also hate treadmills, so running and biking outside always keeps me more interested and I definitely end up doing more. There’s something about a treadmill that just makes me hate it so much.

3. Baseball games!

I’m a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and loveee going to PNC park. It really is one of my favorite places in the world!

4. Outdoor Concerts

I have been to at least one concert for the last few summers and I’m planning on more! Normally I go see Dave Matthews Band cause they play close to me, but I’m hoping for Drew to take me to a country concert (HINT, HINT).

5. The BEACH

Need I say more really?? I love my week of vacation at Avalon/Stone Harbor Beach in New Jersey. It’s such a cute place. We are going in exactly a month, actually! weeeeee!

Unfortunately I won’t be in Key West, FL 😦 but oh well!

6. Outdoor BBQ’s and Picnics

Hanging out with good friends, grilled food, and ice cold beers…yum! Nothing much better than that!

7. Ice Cream/Fro Yo

Come on, we all know it tastes better in the summer time!

8. Refreshing frozen concoctions πŸ˜‰

9. Sundresses

Such a simple and easy way to get dressed.

never mind what i”m doing here…

10. Great tan lines

No worries, i wear my SPF everyday, but hey I still have weird sock/flip flop tan lines, and not to mention a shorts line also..and normally a racer back line on my back. I don’t care. Love it!

So there are my 10 favorite things about summer! Tell me some of your favorites! πŸ™‚ Anyone have any big vacation plans this year?

If you haven’t entered my Sweat Pink lace give away yet, you still have time! Go to the last post and answer the question! I’ll announce later today!
