Back again!

Hi everyone…I know I’ve said it before but I’m back! for serious this time.

The beach was absolutely awesome last week! I mean how could it not be right? It’s the beach. Relaxation, beach reading, good food, and biking! We had pretty good weather the entire time we were there…only one day of super hot stuff going on, not like my other time at the beach this summer (which of course was through the hottest 10 days in a row on record).

This was one of our nicest days there. Beautiful blue skies!

Well at the beach you KNOW I rode my bike a bunch ๐Ÿ™‚ On Monday Drew, his dad, and I set out for a bike ride in the afternoon that ended up being about 18 miles. It was the afternoon and a little too hot for us to go our real long and still make it to the beach for a little so we didn’t do too long of one. Unfortuantely the way we went this time required a lot of stopping through traffic lights through one town, which got kinda irritating but not too bad of a ride all together.

Tuesday we went out for a 27 mile ride! Which was really good. it’s always nice to go out and bike with others- coming home and biking by myself I realized how much harder it is to make myself stay out there.

Wednesday we went to a little farmers market in town which was really cute and fun and lots of neat homemade food and crafts. I LOVE food.

and especially this doughnut from The Fractured Prune- Cherry, Chocolate, Coconut ๐Ÿ™‚

So that morning we skipped the bike ride in order to do that, eat lunch, and spend some quality time at the beach!

After the beach this day ย went out and did something crazy- I RAN. Yes- that’s it. I just ran. No biking involved…I know, this is pretty much unheard of for me lately, but since I didn’t bike that day and haven’t just done a solo run in a while I figured I would try it out. Well- let’s just say that cycling and running- although both cardiovascular exercises….dont exactly translate. My legs were pretty tired from the day before I’ll admit but the whole 2 miles I kind of struggled through. I made a goal to get them in under 20 minutes which I did by 10 seconds but not a great run. Getting back into it is HARD and the next day my legs were KILLING me. Not fun. But it will only get better correct? Spending so much time on my bike has made my foot really happy! which is AWESOME, because I haven’t had any pain and running didn’t hurt! This is probably the first time in 2 years where my foot has felt good for a long period of time. That calls for celebration!

Later on that night Drew and I played mini golf…and I won ๐Ÿ˜‰

That was my last night there, so it was a great time and of course FroYo came after- although I ate it before a picture. oops ๐Ÿ˜‰

The next day even thought I was crazy sore I woke up and Drew and I did a decent 22 mile ride before heading to the beach for the rest of the day. After the beach I packed and had to come back home so I could get back to work, which I did all weekend and today. ย Rude.ย 

So basically, summary: I love the beach and always wonder, why do I ever leave? Do any of you wonder that after a vacation?

And fitness wise what I learned this week: Taking time off from running totally kills when you start again. However, breathing wise I felt good because I think my cardio is good from biking, but getting the legs and arms into the “swing” of things is tough after time off. Boo.

But also: Cyclingย is awesome, and I love it. I feel like I’m getting better with every ride. Working to stay peddling the whole time is hard sometimes especially after a tough climb but there’s something about it that keeps me hooked ๐Ÿ™‚

Beaching it up

Hi everyone ๐Ÿ™‚ as you may know I’m at the beach again with Drew’s awesome family. We are enjoying ourselves so much, great weather and food! And relaxing of course! Tons of that!


Saturday and Sunday we just kind of hung out and did what we wanted. We enjoyed and nice breakfast out yesterday before going to a bike shop where I purchased a new stem and purple handle bar tape! Before we changed everything we did a 19 mile bike ride which was good, even did quite the climb over a bridge, on the way back it was into the wind which was really fun trying to go up it at 8mph. NOT.

Anyways- After my crash I ripped up my tape and needed some new stuff and what better color to get? ๐Ÿ™‚ also with a bike there are always adjustments you can make to be more comfortable and Drew suggested a shorter stem because I was having a ton of hand discomfort 5 miles into rides. So my personal bike mechanic aka Drew, moved the hoods of my bike and the changed to the new stem! Dont worry ill show you what those are… Cause normally I dont know either, but I’m learning my bike terminology a little better…;) okay Drew!?


So there they are! Pretty much anything on roadbikes can be adjusted if you’re uncomfortable, the only way to know how you like your bike to to get some decent miles on it! And then after that you can talk adjustments.

After that was all done my girl is looking like a beaut!


And now Lil Blue is even more pretty!

Friday Things

I sincerely apologize to any of you who actually read my crap…I’ve been a terrible blogger for sure. This week has just been busy, and also I don’t have much to talk about…? Work is well- you know how work is pretty slow right now so… ANYWAYS. THANK YOU to anyone who actually keeps coming back to read this crapthing.

Friday Things..since all I have to talk about is random. Seriously.

1. These things are what I”m using to attempt to not have a scar the size of my entire leg…we will see how that goes. BioOil and Scar zone here I come..

I know it looks horrendous… ugh. Also the scar zone stuff has SPF in it..good thing since…


I know what you’re thinking..”seriously? again??” yes, again! This time with Drew’s family! yay! Only a few days so I can get back to work, but still- It will be a nice get away! I will be reenacting some of this!

3. I love pedicures and manicures.

They’re the best seriously. and Gel manicures last forever. These things are both highly necessary for the beach! You can’t tell but the base of my french manicure is super sparkly! woo

4. This is how I’m greeted when coming out of my room. Don’t you just want to DIE.

Group I’ve missed you!

Hi everyone ๐Ÿ™‚ So, sorry for the lack of posting I just, well, LIFE happened. I just got busy and my lack of sleep front he past seeking in Pitt total hit me like a ton of bricks by Monday night and I needed some SLEEP! But i’ve been up to a lot since then also ๐Ÿ™‚

My schedule for work was a little different this week so I FINALLY got to go back to one of my favorite things! GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES! Ah how I’ve missed them. Since my schedule was different, I got to take 2 classes this week! A new one: Tabata Class and an old favorite: HIIT!

Oh How i missed you weights, body bar, and stepper..

My body hasn’t hurt this good for a while! It’s a love hate kinda thing. Monday I was inspired to take this new Tabata class because it a time I could do it, and my favorite kind of training! Something ย that mixed it up. We did a ratio of 20:10. I liked the class, but wish the exercises were done at a 30:10 ratio instead. Every time got into the movement it ended up being over… But overall it was a good class and I would def go again.

After this class I went home and gave some time for the heat to let it up a little bit and headed out on my bike..I didn’t have a set amount of time I wanted to do, but after all said and done I completed 20 miles…with a few good climbs in it. There is one last climb that totally makes you want to cry and just walk your bike up it- not going to lie I thought about it for sure. My quads were on FIRE after I was done.

Needless to say the next morning I woke up before I moved I could tell I was sore. Really sore. In the Tabata class we did 4 rounds of speed skaters…and if you’ve done this you know how bad your glutes hurt after. I tried to sit on the floor last night and I couldn’t even do it without being in pain. Also trying to use a stick to roll out your butt isn’t very fun. FYI.

So even though I was pretty sore, I had the opportunity to go back to my favorite HIIT class and do that workout which was fun because once you start going to the same class all the time you make friends with those people and they notice when you’re gone! So I went and it as always kicked my butt! We did 3 minutes of straight exercise straight and then 1 minutes restย and did this 10 times. It was tough for sure! All of the exercises we did didn’t require equipment..mostly good old fashion mountain climbers, push ups (ugh), in and outs and sprinting in place. Totally killed. Last night I did the Long and Lean routine to stretch it out.

Today I woke up to do a nice 12 mile recovery ride with my dad…good thing it was recovery because I couldn’t do much more. My legs were SO. Tired.ย It was seriously a struggle to really keep going.

Today I got to go swim at a pool of a friends and it was lovely…It was only 96 degrees out!

  • What are your favorite types of classes to take?ย For me it’s HIIT! Duh!

Pittsburgh & DMB Weekend

Hi everyone! happy Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

I just got back from an awesome weekend spending time with my best friend Emily and visiting her in Pittsburgh!

We had a great time..good food, beverages, and a tons of dancing! Seriously…my legs are sore.

I got there Friday evening, and we caught up and then decided to go out to a bar called Buckheads which had the Pirates game on and some good dancing music that we got down to ๐Ÿ™‚ Sorry for my lack of pictures on this- but take my word for it we had a good time and danced the night away!

Saturday we had planned on biking downtown and shopping a obviously get the best fan gear from the city that the sports are in! However, it rained ALL morning and was quite gloomy- so instead we went and ate at a little hometown gem dine called Eggs n’at. So. delicious.

So delicious. Kelly’s Homefries were probably the best I’ve ever had in my life. I could have ate an entire plate of them! I had wheat toast, bacon, 2 eggs over easy and of course a delicious pancake. I ate practically everything except for a few bites…we had to fuel up for the concert.

To our delight, at 1:00 the sun decided to come out and the rest of the day was gorgeous!

We headed to the concert early to hang out and tailgate…and hula hoop? Oh yah- we did that too. Okay me not so much cause I suck at it but Emily is awesome at it!

Good thing Emily is a nurse and helped me with the road rash!

The concert itself was awesome. I think this was my 3rd time seeing Dave Matthews and if you’ve never been I highly recommend it! they are highly entertaining. They didn’t play my favorite song so that was kind of upsetting but everything else was awesome!

There were a ton of people there so it was a bit of a mad house- but we had an awesomeeee time! We danced like crazy and I mentioned before, Emily lost her voice too! So you can see it was a good concert! ๐Ÿ˜‰ My legs are so sore from standing on slanted lawn and dancing!

Needless to say- sleeping wasn’t done a whole lot this weekend so i’m a little tired..but totally worth it.

After 2 days away from my traditional exercise a nice bike ride is schedule for today! I’m excited because I haven’t been back on since the whole speed bump incident. It’s healing up fairly well and I’m ready to get back out there and hopefully not crash!
